ZOE Hope Walk Mission & Lock-In

The Hope Walk Lock-In is coming up on Friday, February 10th beginning at 8 PM and will continue until Noon on Saturday, February 11th! You may pick up your brochures and pledge sheets in the Student Ministries office or click on the links below to down them. Those who find sponsors for each of the months of 2012 will participate in the Hope Walk Lock-In in February.

'Deep & Wide' Revival - February 12-19

First UMC church-wide revival is scheduled for February 12th-19th with keynote speakers Dr. Steve Harper and Rev. Bob Tuttle. Special workshops and services will go on throughout the week.

Spring Break 2012

Mark your calendars for a week of Spring Break excitement! Lots of fun stuff will be going on that week. Registration begins on Sunday, February 5th! Here's what we have on tap:

Mon. 3/12 - Moe's & Cobb Theater (Times TBA)

Tue. 3/13 - Canoeing on Peace River  - Leaving FUMC at 8 AM & returning by 5 PM. The cost is $20 and you MUST pre-register.

Wed. 3/14- Bowling/Yogurt Mountain  - We'll meet at AMF Lanes, 4111 S. Florida at 6:45 PM - $10 buys you unlimited bowling for 2 hours, shoe rental, popcorn & drink. Then we'll head over to Lakeside Villate & "Yogurt Mountain" - where you may be picked up by parents at 10 PM. Reservations ARE necessary, so be sure to register.

Thur. 3/15 - Anna Maria Beach Day - Leaving FUMC at 8 AM and returning by 4:30 PM. There is NO cost, except for whatever food and snacks you wish to purchase.

Space is limited for the Tuesday-Thursday events. Medical Release forms are required for the off campus, outside of Lakeland events.

WHAT IS CLUB VERT?

Club Vert is the monthly activity we have for all our 6-8 graders during the school year from September through May.  You and your friends are invited to come and join us monthly for "Club Vert"--a Friday night adventure from 7-10 PM with PLENTY of food, fun and friends for all!!  Cost is $3 per person and you MUST have a current CV registration form on file (you can click on the link below to print one).

2012 Believe Tour for Middle Schoolers

Calling ALL middle school students for the 2012 Believe: Word Tour scheduled for March 9-10 in Kissimmee, Florida. Believe is the ministry of Christ In Youth, an organization that has provided high-energy, Christ-centered events to reach middle school students for Christ. Participants will leave FUMC at 5:30 PM on Friday, March 9th and return on Saturday, March 10th at 6:30 PM. The cost is $75 per person!  Want to check it out--go to: http://www.ciy.com/believe/

Florida UM Foundation Scholarships

High School Seniors may be interested to know that the Florida UM Foundation administers two scholarships that are intended exclusively for the use of United Methodist students who wish to further their education beyound high schoo. The Sinclair Scholarship is specifically for incoming freshmen with strong academic skills and a record of community service to church and community.  The Alice W. Lockmiller Scholarship is available to United Methodists who are full-time students attending a junior college, senior college, university, seminary or occupational training beyond the high school level. Confirmation Retreat - Feb. 24-26

The 2012 Confirmation adventure continues with an awe-inspiring weekend of fun and worship at Warren Willis UM Camp in Leesburg. Here's some info you need to know for the retreat weekend:

  1. We will load at the F-Building on Friday, 2/24 at 5 PM - You should eat before you come.
  2. Packing List:  Bible, sleeping bag, pillow, clothing for 2 days, rain jacket, closed-toe shoes, personal hygiene tiems, towel, money for the camp store and drink machine. Please bring only one bag in addition to your sleeping bag and pillow.
  3. We will be traveling in church vehicles to the Leesburg camp. The students will be staying in lodges with private shower facilities. It will take about 1 and a half hours to travel to the camp. We are providing transportion to and from the camp.
  4. Parents, please understand that we will be busy ALL weekend, so your teen may not have time to call home - remember that NO news is GOOD news!
  5. We will return to the F-Building on Sunday, 2/26 at 12:30 PM. Parents, please note this pick up time.

 

2012 Crop Walk

 

First UMC is joining the 2012 Crop Walk campaign to raise money to feed the hungry all over the world through Church World Services, with 25% of the money raised staying right here in Lakeland. The Crop Walk will be held on February 26th at Lake Hollingsworth at 1:15 PM. Donation envelopes will be available on Sunday, Feb. 5 & 12 at the information tables. There is also online registration for walkers and donations on the church website. Just go to www.firstumc.org and click on the Crop Walk graphic.


2012 Summer Camp @ Leesburg
